Biography
Interior designer Sharon Simonaire's signature style brings tactile warmth and a range of influences to modern, sophisticated interiors. Her rigorously assembled roomscapes are grounded in historical research and evolve not as showplaces, but as disciplined habitats suitable to her clients' tastes and lifestyles. Her interior design work has been featured in W, Vogue, House Beautiful, Elle Decor, British Vogue, Elle Decoration (France) and House & Garden.
Some of her clients include London-born beauty products mogul and celebrity hairstylist John Frieda; Hollywood stars such as Richard Gere and wife, actress Carey Lowell; Robert DeNiro and his daughter Drena DeNiro and Meg Ryan.
Born in Baltimore, Ms. Simonaire began her career as an accessories designer in New York City ('79-'85). As a photo stylist and costume designer in Los Angeles ('86-'91), she worked with famed photographer Herb Ritts, helping to create many of his iconic photographs. Her body of work includes the "Cherish" video for Madonna, the "Simply the Best" video for Tina Turner and costumes for David Bowie's "Sound + Vision" concert tour. An avid world traveler, Simonaire collects a wide array of exotic furniture and home decorating accessories. She founded and operated Oddiyana, an eclectic retail boutique in the popular Silver Lake area of Los Angeles, which attracted Hollywood glitteratti and fashion insiders, and was featured in numerous national magazines. Ms Simonaire and her daughters live in Sneden's Landing, New York.
